2) The Intelligent Ligament

The Intelligent Ligament is a pulsating organism broadcasting transportation and economic movements. This is the display of the productive rhythms of Queens. Queensborough Plaza elevated train mezzanine will be connected to the Queens Plaza subway in concert with the commercial development of Midtown East.

This movement system will interconnect to three out put devices:

an LED text /numerical display on over head ribbon;
an MTA transfer bridge which acts as a moving billboard;
and Japanese lanterns: pulsating, inflatable structures which contain newsstands, internet kiosks and coffee bars.

In put devices for the Intelligent Ligament include:
- DOT bridge crossing traffic counts
- MTA counts for the 6 subway lines
- Amtrak and LIRR information
- Pedestrian and Bicycle counts
- Airport arrivals and departures
- Energy consumption
- Local and Global business activity
- Retail activity
- Real Estate market fluctuations
